چکیده

The Illyric–Balkan endemic species Moltkia petraea (Tratt.) Griseb. is very interesting as a potential horticultural and medicinal plant. The aim of this study was to investigate soil conditions of M. petraea habitats, the phenolic content in plant parts, and the infl uence of soil properties on the phenolic contents. The results were evaluated using Spearman rank order correlations. Analyzed soil samples contained very low to intermediate levels of physiologically active phosphorus, but were very rich in potash. Organic matter content of soil was high. Phenolic compound content was higher in leaves than in fl owers or stems. The analyses showed that M. petraea possesses considerable quantities of phenolic compounds and has no specifi c demands for particular soil conditions. A negative correlation was found between soil phosphorus content and total phenols content in leaves and stems, and with the total phenolic acids content in fl owers. Organic matter in soil also found to have a negative infl uence on total tannins content in stems. Among the tested geographical locations, the Mljet population showed a higher degree of separation from the remaining locations.

Soil Moisture and Biogeochemical Factors Infl uence the Distribution of Annual Bromus Species

Abiotic factors have a strong infl uence on where annual Bromus species are found. At the large regional scale, temperature and precipitation extremes determine the boundaries of Bromus occurrence. At the more local scale, soil characteristics and climate infl uence distribution, cover, and performance. In hot, dry, summerrainfall-dominated deserts (Sonoran, Chihuahuan), little or no Bromus is ...

Research indicates that the inclination to be physically active or sedentary has a biological foundation. Infl uence of Soil Water Retention Properties on Hydrological Cycle and Water Budgeting Module Simulation

Th e complexity of water budgeting module as shown in this paper is represented in phases. By experimental measurement of precipitation and lysimetric measurement of percolation runoff the fi rst phase establishes monthly and annual soil-water budgets of skeletal and clayey soils, and hence the infl uence of soil water-retention potential on hydrologic cycle and water budget over a four year pe...
